Our Equal Golden Bean Awards!
The Equal Golden Bean Awards are an annual event and the southern hemisphere’s biggest coffee roasting competition.
We are very proud to announce that in this, our first year of operation, our coffee won the 2008 Silver Medal in the Retail category and the 2008 Bronze Medal in the Filter category.
The six categories that are judged include Australian Grown, Espresso, Milk Based, Organic, Retail and Filter. And with over 500 coffees independently judged by coffee experts, the competition is extremely tough.
Samples of all the coffees are presented to independent accredited judges who use the following criteria to score each coffee…
Visual – roasted appearance
Aroma – indication of complexity and freshness
Body – ranging from thin on the palate to heavy
Taste – freshness, acidity, sweetness, bitterness, flavour, aftertaste and balance
